Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Online Core Skills in Japan
Official online Core Skills training for Dr. Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) will be held over four weekends starting in October, 2025.

Dr. Guillory brings a wealth of experience and a particular interest in working with multicultural realities and the impact of marginalization and understanding how it activates our attachment systems and the role of emotional coherence in co/regulating and maintaining health, well-being, and possibly thriving.

Louisiana EFT Community has been honored to have EFT Trainer George Faller, MS, LMFT as our EFT trainer since 2012. Our Externship dates are Monday (10/27/25) until Thursday (10/30/25) starting at 8:30am until 5pm CST. The EFT Externship will be located at Tulane University's School of Social Work. In this four- day Externship, participants will learn through a combination lectures, observations, live sessions and break out groups for role play.

This in-person, four-day (24-hour) Externship in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) in Singapore offers foundational training for therapists. It focuses on attachment science and a structured approach to couple therapy, equipping participants with essential skills to foster secure, resilient relationships. This training also serves as the first step toward advanced EFCT practice and certification. Scholarship opportunities are available for participants from Southeast Asia.

EFT Core Skills Training offers an in-depth opportunity to develop the core skills essential to the practice of EFT. In the overall context of the EFT Tango, each Core Skills session is dedicated to specific steps of the model and the therapeutic tasks and interventions characteristic of those steps. The first Core Skills training covers Stage One of EFT (steps one and two), and the second covers Stage One of EFT (steps three and four).

Take the next step in your Emotionally Focused Therapy journey with our Core Skills training in Pittsburgh! This intensive series offers in-depth instruction in the key stages and interventions of EFT for couples. Through didactic teaching, video demonstrations, and experiential practice, you'll deepen your skills and confidence in applying EFT with couples. Completion of an EFT Externship and showing your own session recordings are both required

Join our small group experience designed to help you deepen your understanding through hands-on guidance in a supportive environment, including instruction, role play, observation of live interviews, and consultation. Each participant is encouraged to present a short video clip of their own work.

Session 1: assessment, identifying the cycle; Session 2: Cycle De-escalation; Session 3: Withdrawer Re-engagement; Session 4: Pursuer Softening

This is a EFCT Externship presented over two consecutive Friday/Saturday weekends.

This four-day (24hr) course revises and deepens therapists' understanding of the EFCT model and the interventions used to achieve the three change events identified by process research that move loving relationships from insecurity to security. It includes case presentations, video demonstrations, and experiential exercises, as well as providing practical resources for therapists to use with their clients.

This in-person Advanced Core Skills Training 2 in Singapore is part of the comprehensive 48-hour Core Skills program. This 12-hour session focuses on refining specific interventions to stabilize distressed relationships in Stage 1, incorporating didactic teaching, case consultations, and experiential exercises.

4-day (Nov. 5-8) Externship in EFCT® delivered with a Created for Connection focus as described in Dr. Sue Johnson and Kenneth Sanderfer's book "Created for Connection: The 'Hold Me Tight' Guide for Christian Couples." Hosted by Christian non-profit Foundation Restoration in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, EFT is a research-supported model that helps couples move from distress to connection by identifying negative patterns and fostering secure emotional bonds.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) externship is the major entry point for therapists learning this comprehensive series of training programs to gain a basic understanding of the EFT theory and clinical techniques of working with couples. EFT was developed by Sue Johnson and is being presented by the ICEEFT certified trainer Paul Guillory, PhD. Sue Johnson has published several outstand books & training videos for learning the EFT model.
