We are thrilled to be providing another 4 day online ICEEFT endorsed EFCT Externship that focuses on LGBTQ+ relationships.
It takes place online on June 2nd & 3rd + June 16th & 17th 2025, with timing to suit many countries – afternoon-evening in Britain, morning – mid afternoon in North America.

This is a 4-day externship in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), organized by the Evangelisches Zentralinstitut für Familienberatung (EZI) in Berlin, Germany. The event will be taking place on site in Berlin at the EZI offices.

The Externship in EFCT is the first step in becoming an ICEEFT Certified EFT Couple Therapist. It provides the theoretical underpinnings of the EFT model, the evidence-base for EFCT, the 3 stages and 9 steps of the EFCT model (the EFT road map), a comprehensive overview of the key EFT therapist interventions including the EFT Tango, as well as video demonstrations, small-group activities and a live demonstration of an EFCT session.

A 4-day externship includes presentations of theory, clinical techniques and skills, training exercises, video recordings, observation of live interviews and discussion of specific cases and clinical issues. This in-person Advanced Core Skills Training 1 in Singapore is part of the comprehensive 48-hour Core Skills program. This 12-hour session focuses on refining specific interventions to stabilize distressed relationships in Stage 1, incorporating didactic teaching, case consultations, and experiential exercises.

This will be the first EFCT externship offered in Zimbabwe, in-person in Harare from 4-7 August 2025. Training team: Elmien Lesch, certified EFT Trainer in South Africa, supported by EFT therapists mostly from South Africa, Uganda and Kenya. Clare has a focus on diversity and inclusion in her training. This means that while covering all of the required content for an Externship in EFCT, this externship looks at applying the EFT model to monogamous and non-monogamous relationships, as well as staying sensitive to cultural context and the impact of minority stress on relational dynamics.

Attending this 3 Day Externship is the first step in becoming trained the Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. Attending this externship is also a step towards becoming a certified EFT therapist and offers 24 hours of CEU's.

This four-day workshop presents the theory and practice of emotionally focused couples therapy.
The workshop consists of didactic teaching, observation of live sessions, and experiential learning
through role playing, videotape viewing and transcript analysis. Participants receive copies of
pertinent literature and transcripts.

This training involves 2 morning and 2 afternoon sessions of 3 to 4 hours each. Each session is designed for a small group of participants to deepen and refine skills used in the EFCT model, and includes instruction, experiential exercises, video examples and case discussion.
